Customize the Blog Sidebar
The sidebar is used to give blog readers navigation to the different pages of your blog and, like the banner image, it remains consistent on all blog pages/posts. The sidebar is modified using WordPress Widgets (Appearance -> Widgets).
The custom menu is a reference to the menu you create in Appearance -> Menus. A custom menu would typically have links to the homepage, an about page and perhaps a contact page. Remember that when making about or contact sections, it is easier to do these as pages instead of posts. When providing a title for menu items, try to put more than just ‘Home’ or ‘About’ as to let people you are not linking to the GC homepage or About GC page. Example: ‘Men’s Choir Tour Home’
See Creating/Managing Menus for more information.
Putting text/images in the sidebar
You can add text or images to the side bar (maybe if you want a small blog description or related photo) using the Text widget. You may need the Web Developer’s help if you’d like to use HTML (images, links, etc.).
