Settling in...

The first week in Santo Domingo has been filled with a wide variety of activities, and all twenty students are adjusting well to their new environment. The stories that were shared after the first weekend with the families were often humorous and frequently interspersed with "at least I think that's what they said!"

Presentations this week focused on The Dominican Soul, Social Problems in the DR, Dominican Politics and History, Being Cross Cultural, and Health in the DR.

Rush hour scene, Santo DomingoMonday afternoon the language institute provided training for public transportation, and by Wednesday, most students were finding their way around town without the assistance of their family members. They all arrived at Casa Goshen by 11:00 am and we enjoyed a few hours together filled with story-telling, reflection, and eating.
