Obelisco del Malecón was originally erected by Trujillo to
honor...himself. It's been repainted by Elsa Núñez
to honor the Dominican Woman, including (detail) the three Mirabal
sisters who were assasinated by Trujillo in 1960.

Faro a Colón or Columbus' Lighthouse was completed
in 1992 for the 500th anniversary of Columbus' arrival in the New
