Leaving Cardenas
Farm feast
Shortly
before leaving Cardenas the students went on an excursion with Center
staff to a farm. The farmer had prepared a country feast for us: We
ate fresh-picked coconuts (at left), and avocados,
drank guarapo (freshly-pressed juice of sugar cane), and savored
roast pork, a Cuban delicacy. Amanda
and others took the farmer up on his offer to ride his horse.
Good-bye party
The
staff (Fredy and Rita pictured at left) of the Centro Cristiano Pare
Reflexion y Dialogo organized a good-bye party for all the students.
Members
of all the host families were invited to attend as well.
Students
expressed appreciation to host families by sharing with them a
small gift, and preparing "Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow".
As
part of the good bye party, a special music
group was invited. In a very spontaneous way, as the music began,
host family members and staff began inviting the students out to dance.
Here's an archive of other good-bye party
images.
