Pueblo Viejo

Jason and brotherOn Saturday, 16 September, students and their host families (a group of over 60) spent the day at Pueblo Viejo ("old town"). Pueblo Viejo is a sort of theme park/history museum. The day was spent seeing the model of an old Tico town with historical drama, dancing in the streets, clowns parading, etc.

Host families enjoyed explaining Cara y Mamathe old town and all the artifacts--giving the students much practice using their Spanish. And, of course, their was ample time to take rides of all kinds (in the photo, Cara and her host mother) and to visit. Some of us stayed well into the evening!

Above San Jose

Last Monday the students went to Conversa's [language school] other site way up in the hills overlooking San José. Teachers from the downtown location came along and had a full morning of Spanish classes. In the afternoon there was all the swimming sun we could have hoped for during this otherwise rainy season.
