Students on SST will spend about seven weeks in the capital, studying French, gathering input from local authorities on Ivoirian culture, history, and politics, and living with Ivoirian host families.

The second seven weeks, students disperse for a term of service, or an internship, working in clinics, schools, and many other situations.

April 26, 1999 -- We visited Gervais and Genevieve Oulaté, here with their family on their front porch.
Mssr. Oulaté is the pastor of a church in Blolekin near the Liberian border. They live on the church mission compound which includes a school for the blind, small farms, a wood shop, and the church. We plan to place a student here for their service assignment.

We're eating aloco (fried plaintain) and hardboiled eggs in a shelter in front of the Oulaté's house.
