related to Goshen College

Updated 2001-03-21, 2004-08-13

Process to follow regarding communication with and from the Goshen College attorney:

  1. President’s Council members or the Director of Human Resources should inform the provost, or in the provost’s absence the president, regarding any potential need to contact the Goshen College attorney.
  2. In the rare circumstance when neither the provost or president can be contacted, and an emergency exists requiring legal advice, another member of the president’s council shall be consulted.  The provost (or president if the provost is absent) shall be informed as soon as possible regarding the contact with an attorney.
  3. After authorization, contact can be made with the attorney. All communication with and from the attorney should be copied to the provost for institutional records.

These steps will keep the president and provost informed regarding any potential legal challenges which the college may face and centralize legal record keeping.
