Progress reports / Feedback discussions

  • Here is the folder containing your annotated bibliographies with abstract and outline.
  • Below is the Schedule of discussions and respondents.

Starting Friday, Oct 31 we'll have feedback discussions on your topics.

    1. One respondent will read an author's topic bibliography / outline / abstract and write up a short response along these lines:
      • What's at least one aspect of the topic that is working well so far?
      • What's at least one aspect that could be improved?
      • What questions do you wonder about, related to this topic, after you have read this? (The author might be able or might not be able to respond to this!)

The respondent will send their responses to the author and to Paul the day before the discussion.

    2. The rest of the class will prepare for the discussion by reading the abstract and outline of the author's topic before the class discussion.
    3. The discussion:
      1. The author will briefly summarize the feedback given and his/her response (if any is needed) in 2-4 minutes. It would be helpful to write up a short summary of talking points to make this go quickly and stay focussed.
      2. It is *not* necessary to summarize the abstract or the topic once more, because you may assume we have all read what you've written.
      3. Then the author will run a discussion (approximately 5 minutes): opening the floor, calling on folks if needed, responding as needed, asking for responses on particular issues from the class if you'd like.
      4. I will keep track of responses from the class and award some points based on participation in the discussion and usefulness of your comments and questions.
