"For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. " Psalm 57:10

Ten Practical Ways to Say I Love You

1. Pray for your student

Pray that their love for Christ and others will grow as their knowledge grows. Pray for their friends and professors.

2. Send them a care package, including homemade goodies

Remember, even local students need a surprise in their mailboxes now and then!

3. Keep them connected

Send regular e-mail or letter updates with day-to-day family events, the activities of siblings, hometown newspaper clippings and church happenings.

4. Make your college student feel at home

Wait until after their first visit home to transform their old room into an office. Welcome them home with their favorite meal and a special place to relax. Invite their college friends to visit too.

5. Support their activities

Attend when you can, and when you can't be there, make sure they know you're thinking of them through a phone call, e-mail or card.

6. Make a phone call

Phone calls are a welcomed excuse to put off studying. Weekly, planned phone calls are also great.

7. Send money

College students are notoriously broke. Even $5-10 in the mail will bring a big smile to your student's face.

8. Surprise your student

Hide notes in backpacks, books or coat pockets while they're home for a visit. Send flowers.

9. Visit

Get a glimpse into your student's world by meeting their friends and professors. Just make sure dinner off-campus and a trip to the grocery store are on the agenda.

10.Offer advice

College students will appreciate that you don't want to interfere, but don't hesitate to share your words of wisdom on crucial matters.
