Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.)

Obtaining a post-high school education at Goshen College will involve a four-year commitment (for full-time coursework), and as a nursing student you will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. An important factor to consider as you select a nursing program is that many entry-level nursing positions now require at least a B.S.N. degree. In fact, recent reports indicate that increasingly employers are most interested in graduates who also have a background in liberal arts education. A liberal arts background prepares a graduate to enter the workplace with good communication skills, decision-making abilities and flexibility. GC is very proud to offer a degree that will prepare you to skillfully and confidently function as an R.N. in a variety of settings.

Hands-on experiences

Our curriculum includes many clinical experiences for students within the community setting. Such settings include:
- hospitals
- nurse-managed centers
- client homes
- mental health centers
- county health department
- school systems

Study and Serve Abroad

A unique general education requirement at GC is international education. This requirement can be met with courses on campus, or on Study-Service Term (SST). Most GC students opt for SST because it’s a challenging opportunity for an international experience and it typically costs the same as a term on campus. Nursing students see firsthand how health care beliefs and practices are interwoven with culture. Nursing students sometimes serve in rural health clinics of a developing nation.
