			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 2013-14 season of the Goshen College Performing Arts Series will again bring extraordinary and top quality arts performances to the college, including Garrison Keillor, The Wailin’ Jennys, the Vienna Boys Choir and Pink Martini.</p>
<p>The line-up was publicly announced on Tuesday, April 23 at the final concert of the 2012-13 season by Lea Salonga. Initial reservations were available immediately following the concert, and season package tickets formally go on sale to the public Wednesday, April 24 at 9 a.m. at the college’s Welcome Center.</p>

</strong>Back on the series by popular demand, the Juno award-winning Wailin’ Jennys are three extraordinary women whose beautiful, heart-stopping harmonies, uplifting repertoire and engaging stage presence delight and charm audiences. Their acoustic blend of bluegrass, folk and roots music has been featured on <em>A Prairie Home Companion</em> and alongside Bonnie Raitt and Roseanne Cash. The Jennys&#8217; album, <em>Firecracker,</em> spent more than 30 weeks in the Top 5 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart.<br />

</strong>Since bursting onto the scene in 1997 with the jazzy album <em>Sympathique</em>, this Oregon-based &#8220;little orchestra&#8221; has gained a national following with an upbeat multilingual repertoire of classical, Latin, jazz, pop and big band music. Led by pianist Thomas Lauderdale, the band has performed with more than 50 orchestras, and collaborated with such artists as Rufus Wainwright, Carol Channing, Saori Yuki and the cast of Sesame Street.<br />

</strong>Led by its mission to inspire and foster a lifelong love of classical music through performance and education, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will present a dazzling program that will include Barber’s First Symphony, A Concerto for Flute and Clarinet by Puckett and Beethoven’s beloved Fifth Symphony. Performing since 1924, the “Phil” is led by Music Director Andrew Constantine, and is known as a leader in the region for promoting the arts.<br />

<p>This year’s regular series season ticket includes six concerts. Four performances are set for each season ticket: Garrison Keillor, Vienna Boys Choir, Pink Martini and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Those buying the basic season ticket package then can choose the additional two performances, one each from these two pairs of contrasting shows: The Wailin’ Jennys / The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble; The King’s Singers / The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra featuring the New York Voices.</p>
<p>The six-show ticket packages are discounted 10-15 percent over individually priced tickets: $250 for A section seats (value $276), $220 for B section seats (value $250) and $150 for seats in the C section seats (value $172). Anyone can also create a seven or eight-show package that includes either or both of the remaining shows at an additional cost.</p>
<p>Season tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, April 24. A nonrefundable deposit of $20 per seat will hold season tickets and seat preference. Full payment is due July 15. Seats will be assigned according to the date received. Individual tickets, if available, will go on sale <strong>Monday, Aug. 5</strong> at the Welcome Center and online at <a href="http://www.goshen.edu/tickets"><strong>www.goshen.edu/tickets</strong></a>.</p>

<p>Salonga, originally from the Philippines, is known around the world for her powerful voice and her presence on Broadway and theater stages. She is most recognized for her roles as Kim in <em>Miss Saigon</em>, as Eponine in <em>Les Misérables </em>and as the singing voice of two official Disney princesses: Jasmine in <em>Aladdin</em> and the title character in <em>Mulan</em>. In addition, Salonga has triumphed over traditional casting barriers by becoming the first Asian actress to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in <em>Les Misérables</em> on Broadway.</p>
<p>The New York Times describes her voice as “a shiny all-purpose instrument that confidently establishes its dominion over whatever musical setting surrounds it.”</p>

<p>The StepCrew, a tap and stepdance team, will perform at Goshen College in a Performing Arts Series concert on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.</p>
<p>The crew creates a lively and cutting-edge show by combining Irish stepdancing, Ottawa Valley stepdancing and modern tap. The cast features six dancers trained in modern and traditional dance. A talented five-piece band supports the dancers with Celtic vocals and fiddle.</p>
<p>With The StepCrew’s dancers and fiddlers hailing from bands like The Chieftains, Bowfire, Cherish The Ladies and Seven Nations, the production promises a night of visual and musical energy.</p>

<p>The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and Goshen-native Philip Proctor, an actor, will perform at Goshen College in a Performing Arts Series concert on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.</p>
<p>The Grammy-Award winning group consists of John Dearman, Matthew Greif, William Kanengiser and Scott Tennant. Their guitar music, including Latin, African, Far East, Irish, Folk and American classics, is acclaimed world-wide.</p>
<p>The foursome will perform their new, multi-media show inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ “Don Quixote.” The three-act show will feature actor and comedian Philip Proctor, who will portray several characters in the literary adventure.</p>

<p>Proctor, a Goshen native of both Amish and Irish ancestry, is returning to his hometown after 63 years in acting and film. He is a member of The Firesign Theatre, an American comedy troupe. He has performed voiceovers for a range of TV shows and movies, including <em>Toy Story</em>, <em>A Bug&#8217;s Life</em>, <em>Monsters, Inc.</em> and <em>Finding Nemo</em>. <p>The orchestra, which was formed in 1973, is known for playing classical music on period instruments. The group has performed chamber music across the United States, Europe and the Middle East. They have recorded over 100 widely praised performances under directors Trevor Pinnock and Harry Bicket.</p>

<p>The 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris will come for the first time to Goshen College to perform a Performing Arts Series concert on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.</p>
<p>Harris has gained admiration as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. Few in pop or country music have achieved such honesty or revealed such maturity in their writing. Four decades into her career, Harris continues to awe audiences with her crystalline voice, remarkable gift for phrasing and restless creative spirit.</p>
<p>Tickets are sold out, but occasionally regular seat tickets ($55, $50, $40) are returned to the Music Center box office the night of the concert and would be available an hour before the concert (first come, first serve). 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>GOSHEN, Ind. – Opportunities are available to secure individual tickets for all concerts in the Goshen College Performing Arts Series. Individual tickets go on sale Monday, Aug. 6 at 8 a.m., online at <a href="http://www.goshen.edu/tickets">www.goshen.edu/tickets</a> and at the recently relocated Goshen College Welcome Center (moved from the south to the north side of the Union Building). Guest parking is available at this location.</p>
<p>For further information about ticket availability, prices, reservations or more information, contact the Goshen College Welcome Center at (574) 535-7566 or e-mail <a href="mailto:welcomecenter@goshen.edu">welcomecenter@goshen.edu</a>. The Welcome Center, located at the north end of the Union Building, is open for business from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday.</p>

An all-star ensemble of renowned singers from across the United States, Seraphic Fire was founded in 2002 by Artistic Director Patrick Dupré Quigley, and has since garnered critical acclaim, including two Grammy nominations in 2011. The chamber choir has gained a reputation for dynamic, cutting edge performances and a broad repertoire, ranging from classical to contemporary and sacred to secular choral works. ($35, $30, $20)</p>

Since he was last here in 2004, Del McCoury has received a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award and was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, honoring his 50-plus years making music. Del McCoury and his faithful band demonstrate that bluegrass isn&#8217;t just for those with an acquired taste: it’s about presence, passion and the musical marriage of sound old and new. With programs ranging from Bach to bluegrass, they consistently play to sold-out houses worldwide. For this show, Firesign Theater veteran and Goshen native, actor Philip Proctor, will join the quartet in their “Don Quixote” collaboration, as they tell the journey of the literary Spanish knight through story and amazing music. Known across the world for her powerful voice, Lea Salonga is a Tony Award winning singer and actress, most recognized for her roles as Kim in “Miss Saigon,” as Eponine in “Les Misérables” and as the singing voice of two official Disney princesses: Jasmine in “Aladdin” and Fa Mulan in “Mulan.” Come see for yourself why The New York Times describes her voice as “a shiny all-purpose instrument that confidently establishes its dominion over whatever musical setting surrounds it.” ($45, $40, $25)</p>
<p>Seating for those with disabilities is available and the minimum age of attendees is 5 years old. Tickets are nonrefundable.</p>
<p>The Goshen College Performing Arts Series debuted on Sept. 21, 1997. Since then, the college has hosted more than 100 concerts by some of the world’s greatest performers as part of the program.</p>
