Community prayer breakfast to kick off Martin Luther King Jr. Day; reservations due Jan. 8

GOSHEN, Ind. — The 2010 Goshen College Martin Luther King Jr. Study Day on Jan. 18 will begin with prayer and remembrance at the 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Prayer Breakfast, beginning at 7 a.m. in the Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall. The breakfast is open to the public and reservations are due by Friday, Jan. 8.

The breakfast will feature internationally-acclaimed baritone Anthony Brown and poet Brenda Cárdenas. Brown is a Goshen College alum and applies his experience in both music and psychotherapy to reconciliation efforts around the world. Cárdenas uses language to explore the interplay between Spanish and American cultures. Goshen College's Voices-n-Harmony Gospel Choir will offer musical selections during the worship program and local pastors will offer prayers.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the program begins at 7:30 a.m. Advance registration is required; tickets for the breakfast are $16 per person or $128 for a table and must be reserved by Jan. 8. For more information about the prayer breakfast, or to reserve a seat or table, call (574) 535-7565.
