4 p.m., Performing Arts Series: Bobby McFerrin, Sauder
Concert Hall
Bobby McFerrin is one of the natural wonders of the music world.
His four-octave range and vast array of vocal techniques have
helped him become one of the world's best-known vocal innovators
and improvisers. A 10-time Grammy Award winner, McFerrin's music
transcends borders and embraces all cultures, and each show becomes
a unique event to the delight and amazement of audiences.

Art exhibit opens: Hung Liu, painter, Eric Yake Kenagy Visiting
Artist, Hershberger Art Gallery
Liu earned a B.A. in education at Beijing Teacher's College
before studying mural painting at Beijing's Central Academy of
Fine Art. In 1986 she earned an M.F.A. from the University of
California, San Diego. Liu has received numerous awards, including
two painting fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in such
venues as the Smithsonian Institution, the Tokyo Metropolitan
Museum of Photography, the National Museum of American Art and the
Walker Center. She currently resides in Oakland, Calif., and is a
professor of visual arts at Mills College.
The exhibit will be up through March 3. She will present a public
lecture Sunday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Rieth Recital Hall; a
reception in the gallery will follow.

2-4 p.m., Opening exhibit reception: "The Dream,"
Good Library Gallery
African American culture and life depicted in sculptures, drawings
and paintings by artists from the African American Association of
South Bend, to celebrate Black History Month. Sponsored by the
Multicultural Affairs Office and the Center for Intercultural
Teaching and Learning. The exhibit is up through Feb. 18. The
opening reception will include jazz and poetry.
