Community School of the Arts offers Nov. 21 showcase concert

Location: Sauder Concert Hall, Goshen College Music Center
Cost: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students. GC students free with valid ID. Ticket valid for both concert parts.

 

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College Community School of the Arts (CSA) students and ensembles will perform a showcase concert in the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall on Sunday, Nov. 21. This concert also features the Sauder Concert Hall debut of the Youth Honors Orchestra and Intermediate Concert Orchestra, two area youth string ensembles that joined the CSA this fall.

 

The concert will be divided into two parts, with an extended intermission between them. Part 1 at 4 p.m. will feature the Youth Honors Orchestra and Intermediate Concert Orchestra, conducted by Brian Wiebe. There are 55 youth string players currently participating in the YHO, with 35 in the ICO. The orchestras will present music for strings by George Frideric Handel and Gustav Holst.

 

Part 2 at 5 p.m. will feature performances by CSA's Allegro Beginning String Ensemble and Vivace Strings, conducted by Rosalyn Troiano, followed by Rejoice Children's Choir, directed by Rosemary Rupp, and Shout for Joy Children's Choir, directed by Sandy Hill.

 

Tickets will be available at the door starting one hour before Part 1. A purchased ticket is valid for both concert parts. Tickets cost $7 adults, $5 seniors/students. GC students are free with valid ID.

 

The mission of the Goshen College Music Center is "Enriched lives and enhanced community through quality artistic programming and educational opportunities for all." The CSA is dedicated to the idea that all children are musical. It offers classes and lessons that provide the tools and resources parents and caregivers need to foster a musical learning environment to Goshen-area community members of all ages, abilities and economic circumstances. Financial assistance is provided to families with economic need through Acorn scholarships.
