Goshen College music professor to perform piano recital Nov. 1

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College Professor of Music Matthew Hill will perform a piano recital Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Rieth Recital Hall at the Goshen College Music Center.
The performance includes "Impromptu in C minor, Op. 90, No. 1" and "Impromptu in F minor, Op. 142, No. 4" by Schubert, selections from "Vingt Regards sur L'Enfant-Jésus" by Messiaen and "Variation and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op. 24" by Brahms.
Hill teaches piano, music history and humanities at Goshen College. In October 2006 Matthew presented a series of master classes and a recital performance at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, China, as well as guest lectures at the Southwest University of Science and Technology in Mianyang. He contributed a chapter to "Silence, Music, Silent Music" (Ashgate 2007), has written for Clavier and was an invited presenter at "Couleurs dans le vent: Celebrating the Music of Olivier Messiaen," an international conference held at the University of Kansas in 2002.
Hill is currently co-chair of the Music Department and co-coordinator of the Goshen College Piano Workshop. He has a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under pianist Howard Karp and has also studied with the renowned Beethoven interpreter Claude Frank.
Tickets for the recital are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and GC students are free with valid ID. Tickets available at the door before the concert.
