Figaro” by W.A. Mozart, Umble
Center
Mozart’s comic opera, “The Marriage of
Figaro,” combines the composer’s characteristic
melodies with a witty plot in which hastily improvised and absurd
situations contrast to Mozart’s beautifully crafted music.
This production featuring student performers is produced by the
Goshen College theater and music departments. Cost: $12 (orchestra
and balcony center), $8 (balcony sides).

Building Room 28
The campus premier of “Fuerza,” a documentary produced
by Goshen College students on immigration in the Elkhart area, will
include a question and answer time following the 30-minute
documentary. Fuerza” examines the realities of the
effect of immigration on two small cities: Goshen, Ind., and Apan,
Hidalgo, Mexico. Apan is a “feeder” city for Goshen,
meaning that many people emigrating from Apan come to Goshen,
because of other family and friends already established in the
area. “Fuerza” explores this connection, and shows how
each city relies on the other in some way. Filming for the
documentary took place in Elkhart County, Apan and along the
U.S.-Mexico border. For more information, contact James Weber at

– The River Race Project,” Sauder Concert Hall
Already the River Race is used by many as a biking and walking
trail. What other exciting possibilities are in the future of this
great city asset? Tom Stark, chair of the River Race committee;
Everett Thomas, president of the City Councilman and Mayor Allan
Kauffman will share what efforts are underway to enhance and
develop the River Race.

7 p.m., Eric Yake Kenagy Lecture by Roger Shimomura, Rieth
Recital Hall
Roger Shimomura’s exhibit in the Hershberger Art Gallery
features three suites of lithograph prints: “Yellow no
Same,” “Memories of Childhood” and
“Mistaken Identities.” The work by this nationally
celebrated artist deals with the injustice of the internment of
Japanese Americans during World War II and more generally the
problem of cultural stereotyping. There will be a reception in the
Hershberger Art Gallery following the lecture. The exhibit will be
on display through Nov. 29.

The sextet of British men, known as The King’s
Singers, has sung and toured the world over for nearly 40 years.
They are one of the world’s most renowned a cappella vocal
ensembles and have been universally praised for their flawless
technique and seamless interpretation of all kinds of music. Cost:

Rejoice!, a choir for children grades 3-5, is directed by Rosemary
Rupp. Shout for Joy!, a choir for children grades 6-8, is directed

Voices-n-Harmony, Goshen College’s gospel choir directed by
Patrice Penny-Henderson, will present their fall concert. Tickets
are $6 adults, $4 seniors and students, available at the door. GC
