GOSHEN, Ind. – With 15 Broadway, off-Broadway and West End productions to her credit, the highly talented singer and actress Christine Ebersole will perform for Goshen College's Performing Arts Series in the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. Joining her will be award-winning composer, vocalist and jazz pianist Billy Stritch. The two have collaborated together before, including releasing in 2004 the album, "In Your Dreams."
Though limited regular seating for the concert is available, tickets for the Choral Terrace, located behind the stage, are on sale for $15. Occasionally regular tickets are returned to the Music Center box office the night of the concert and would be available an hour before the concert. For more information, contact the Goshen College Welcome Center by calling (574) 535-7566 or e-mailing welcomecenter@goshen.edu.
Ebersole, a veteran of the musical stage, won the 2001 Tony award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, for her role as Dorothy Brock in "42nd Street" and again six years later as the lead actress in the critically-acclaimed musical "Grey Gardens."
But Ebersole doesn't just have acting experience on a live theater stage. Ebersole was cast on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in 1981-82 and made guest appearances on TV series such as "Crossing Jordan," "Will and Grace," "Just Shoot Me," "Ally McBeal" and "Murphy Brown." Her movie credits include "Richie Rich" and "Amadeus."
In 1997, Ebersole released her first solo CD titled, "Christine Ebersole: Live at the Cinegrill." And most recently, Ebersole joined Billy Stritch to produce her latest CD "Sunday in New York." In a review, New York Times writer Stephen Holden said of Ebersole: "a bright, zany soprano and ebullient clown, can whirl on a dime and evoke an inexpressible sorrow under a facade of garrulous pluck. When she adds a spinning vibrato to her lemony voice, she can turn into a playful latter-day Kathryn Grayson or Jeanette MacDonald."
