Three Grammy winners and leading virtuosos, Fleck, Hussain and Meyer have recently joined forces, moving with ease among the worlds of classical, bluegrass and world music. Called the world's premiere banjo player, Fleck, along with tabla player Hussain and genius bass player Meyer, have performed their innovative sounds to critical praise.
Fleck picked up the banjo at age 15 after being awed by bluegrass music of Flatt and Scruggs. This inspiration led Fleck to practically reinvent the image and sound of the banjo through a significant performing and recording career that has taken him all over the musical map.
Hussain was known as a child prodigy touring by the age of 12. In 1970 he started his international career in the United States, having no fewer than 160 concerts a year. He has composed and recorded multiple albums and soundtracks and has received extensive acknowledgment as a composer for his many ensembles and collaborations.
Meyer, a prominent contemporary bassist, has worked as a session musician in Nashville, part of various chamber groups, a composer, and an arranger. He has collaborated with a variety of artists including Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Sam Bush, James Taylor, Chris Thile, Mike Marshall, Mark O'Connor, Alison Krauss, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the trio Nickel Creek.
Together, all masters and innovators on their particular instruments, they perform intimate must see concerts of original music that explores intertwining strands between American roots and the classical Indian tradition.
