Princeton Review names Goshen a ‘Best Midwestern College’
GOSHEN,
Ind. – After gathering information from college students –
the best sources for inside information about their institutions –
the Princeton Review recently named Goshen College as a Best Midwestern
College.
The Princeton Review reports that Goshen
College “boasts many of the resources, opportunities and quality
faculty available at much larger schools to a little more than 1,000
students.” Goshen’s own students quote the advantage of
the emphasis on international education, including the Study-Service
Term (SST) program, in which over three-fourths of the Goshen
College student body participates. Through this program, students
live in another country for a 13-week term – the first half
of which is spent in a major city, studying the culture and language.
During the second half of the term, students typically live in rural
settings and fulfill service requirements, often relating to their
majors.
Other academic achievements named are
the strong peace, justice and conflict studies
and Bible and religion majors. Goshen’s
diverse student body and sense
of community are also noted, as well as the numerous opportunities
offered for student involvement in both academic and recreational
activities.
The
2005 student opinion data can be found on the Princeton Review Web
site, where Goshen College joins 170 other best Midwestern colleges.
Data is collected through online surveys and campus visits and results
are confirmed by feedback received from alums, current students, counselors
and prospective students who visit the campuses.
This year,
the report features student opinion data from a total of 708
schools, including 102 schools surveyed for the first time. The
goal of the Princeton Review is to identify some of the colleges
and universities that stand out within each region and, in
particular, to raise public awareness of many schools that may not
be as well known as they should.
