Organist Christine Thögersen to present recital Sept. 21

Date and time: Sunday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.
Location: Rieth Recital Hall, Goshen College's Music Center
Cost: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door only. GC students free with ID.
Thögersen will perform "2 Chorale Preludes" written by the late Myron D. Casner, who taught organ at Goshen College. She will also perform a classic repertoire, including: "Prelude and Fugue in C Minor, Op. 37" by Felix Mendelssohn, "Ach wie nichtig, ach wie flüchtig" and "Prelude in D Minor" by Georg Böhm, "Sonata in D Minor, Op. 65, No. 6" by Mendelssohn, "Festival Voluntary, Op. 87" by Flor Peeters and "Prelude & Fugue in C Minor" by J.S. Bach.
Thögersen earned a bachelor's degree in music at Goshen College, and went on to receive a master of arts in music education from Illinois State University. She completed a B-Exam in Kirchenmusik from the Berliner Kirchen Musikschule in Berlin, Germany. Her teaching at Goshen College includes keyboard theory, fine arts for children, foundations of music theory and applied piano and organ.
Thögersen was involved in planning the inaugural of the new "Opus 41" organ at Goshen College, built in Rieth Recital Hall by Taylor & Boody Organbuilders, Staunton, Va., and dedicated in May 2005. She serves as organist at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen and in 2003 began teaching general music half time at Benton Elementary School in Goshen.
Tickets for the recital are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors/students. They are available at the door only.
