GOSHEN, Ind. – In its Goshen premiere, the documentary "Leg Before Wicket" by 1991 Goshen College graduate Shashi Buluswar will be shown on Monday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. in the Administration Building Room 28 at Goshen College.

The film is about a team of Indian and Pakistani athletes who strike up a friendship and overcome a lifetime of distrust on the cricket ground.

1991 Goshen College graduate Shashi Buluswar

Buluswar produced the film after becoming the first Indian to play cricket with the (otherwise all-Pakistani) Chicago Giants team.

His film follows the Giants throughout the summer of 2005, as well as his travels to India and Pakistan, examining the 60-year history of conflict, and the countries' shared love of cricket.

Buluswar will answer questions following a screening of the 85-minute film, which will also be shown at the Illinois International Film Festival this month. The college event is free and open to the public.

Buluswar, 38, is a consultant on the economics of global development, based in Chicago. His clients include governments, developing countries, nongovernmental organizations and foundations. He earned a master's degree in business administration and a doctorate in computer science.
