Goshen College piano instructor to perform solo recital June 26

Jessica Briggs, a native of Elkhart, has won numerous awards and accolades, including first place awards in the Hartmann-Stickley piano competition, the Michiana Chopin Piano Competition and the Elkhart County Symphony Concerto Competition.
Date and time: Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Location: Rieth Recital Hall, Goshen College Music Center
Cost: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door one hour before the concert
GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College Community School of the Arts (CSA) piano instructor Jessica Briggs will present a solo piano recital on Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Rieth Recital Hall.
Briggs' program will include works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Claude Debussy, Fran Liszt and American composer Jody Nagel.
Elkhart native Briggs studied piano with Goshen College Professor Emeritus of Music Marvin Blickenstaff while she was a high school student. She received a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University. Briggs received a master of music degree in piano performance and pedagogy from University of Oklahoma. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in piano performance at Ball State University, where she studies under Robert Palmer.
Briggs has won numerous awards and accolades, among which are first place awards in the Hartmann-Stickley piano competition, the Michiana Chopin Piano Competition and the Elkhart County Symphony Concerto Competition. She has taught piano through the Goshen College Community School of the Arts since 2004, and served as its Piano Program Director in 2004-2005.
This recital has been prepared by Briggs in partial fulfillment of the requirements for her doctor of arts with a major in piano performance from Ball State University. She will also perform this recital on June 30 in Ball State University Sursa Performance Hall.
