Art exhibit: "Full
Circle: Old and New Quilts and Quilters," Good Library
Gallery
Mennonite and Amish quilts from the collection of Rebecca Haarer
set a historical context for the original designs of master
quilters Edith Shanholt, lifelong resident of Elkhart and LaGrange
counties, and Claire Baker, native of California. The exhibit
demonstrates continuity in the local tradition as well as
influences to and from quilters who come from around the world to
quilt circle gatherings in north central Indiana. Sponsored by the
Mennonite-Amish Museum Committee. The exhibit is up through Aug.
14, 2009.

Art exhibit: David Baker, painting and Jerry Catania, glass,
Hershberger Art Gallery
The gallery will exhibit
watercolor paintings by artist David Baker, who teaches art through
Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. Additionally, he shares
the gallery with Jerry Catania, an artist in glass sculpture from
Benton Harbor, Mich. A reception will be held in September; the
exact date to be announced at a later time.

Sunset Canoeing at Luckey's Landing, Merry Lea

Sunset at
Luckey's Landing is a beautiful thing and what better place to
view it than in a canoe? Bring your family for an evening of
canoeing on High Lake; camp out overnight if you wish. Space is
limited; only eight canoes are available. Cost: $10 per canoe used;
$5 per tent pitched.

Center
New students enrolling for the first time at
Goshen College are invited to register for classes with an adviser
and become familiar with college life. Parents are invited to
attend sessions specifically for them.

9 a.m.-5 p.m., Goshen College Volleyball
Individual and Team Camp
This camp will include individual
training as well as team drills. High school coaches and college
players will be team coaches. The camp is directed by Jim Routhier,
head coach of the Goshen College women's volleyball team, and
Jen Higley, assistant GC women's volleyball coach. $30 per

Goshen College Soccer Camp, Goshen College Soccer
Fields
This fun-filled soccer experience will give
players all the tools they need to become better as they are
trained in proper soccer technique. Kindergarten Kickers, ages 5-6
years old (cost $80), will meet 10-11:15 a.m. Students in grades
1-8 (cost $185) will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The camps
will be directed by Thavisak (Tavi) Mounsithiraj, head coach of the
Goshen College men's soccer team, 2005 MCC Coach of the Year
and 2006 NAIA Regional Coach of the Year.

New Student Days
New Goshen College students will move in to
their residence hall rooms and take part in several days of
orientation before fall semester classes begin on Aug. 31, with the
Monday evening classes.

10 a.m., Opening Convocation: President Dr. James E.
Brenneman, Church-Chapel
Goshen College President Dr. James E. Brenneman
will launch the 2009-2010 school year in this opening
convocation.
Goshen College's Administration Building, Church-Chapel, Good Library, Music Center, Newcomer Center, Union Gymnasium and Umble Center are accessible to people using wheelchairs and others with physical limitations.
