High school brass quintet to perform guest recital at Goshen College

GOSHEN, Ind. – Da Brass, a quintet of high school brass
players from Chicago and Goshen, will perform a guest recital at
Goshen College's Rieth Recital Hall on Friday, May 21 at 7
p.m.
Da Brass includes trumpeters Danny Taubenheim and Caleb Wiebe; Alex
Laskey, horn; Katie DeAmico, trombone; and Spencer Brown, tuba. The
group, comprised of the principal brass players of the Chicago
Youth Symphony Orchestra, has placed second in Chicago's
Rembrandt Chamber Players competition and has been featured in an
hour-long live broadcast on WFMT, Chicago's classical radio
station. Earlier this month, they reached the semi-final round of
the junior division of the 2010 Fischoff National Chamber Music
Competition.
Da Brass' program will feature works for brass quintet by
Lutoslawski, Ewald, Cheetham, Dukas, Plog and the Canadian
Brass.
General admission tickets are $5 for all seats, available at the door one hour before the concert. The public is warmly invited.
