Spring concert to feature youth and adult orchestras on May 19

Concert: Youth Honors Symphony & Concert Orchestras

Location: Goshen College Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall

$5 adults, $3 seniors/students, available at the door one hour before the concert.

GOSHEN, Ind. – Three Community School of the Arts orchestras – two youth orchestras and one adult – will perform a spring concert of music on Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall.

Performing are the Elkhart County Youth Honors "Concert" Orchestra (grades 7-9), directed by Kyle Weirich, and the Youth Honors "Symphony" Orchestra (grades 10-12), directed by Brian Wiebe and Christopher Fashun. The two youth orchestras feature Elkhart County music students from 15 area schools. The two orchestras will perform works from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and arrangements by Edvard Grieg, Georges Bizet, Ludwig van Beethoven, Otto Resphigi and Giuseppi Verdi.

 

Also performing is the New Horizons String Orchestra, directed by Brook Bennett, an orchestra comprised of adults who have recently begun learning a string instrument, or who are coming back to an instrument after a long absence. New Horizons will perform music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

 

Tickets to the concert are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. Tickets available at the door one hour before the concert (general admission seating).
