Juried student art exhibit showcases best of year’s work,
April 30-May 17
GOSHEN, Ind. – The best work of Goshen College art
students annually is exhibited in an end-of-the-year display
– showing the breadth and depth of their creative endeavors.
The Juried Student Art Show will be on display in the Music
Center’s Hershberger Art Gallery from April 30 to May 17,
with a reception on April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The show includes 105 different art pieces by 40 different
students, which were judged by Cynthia Cooper, head of the art
department at Goshen High School. The exhibit was open for
submissions created in art classes this year by non-senior art
students, and will include painting, drawing, figure drawing,
graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry,
printmaking and design. Cooper determined which pieces merited
inclusion in the show, but will also award best and honorable
mention in each category, as well as best of show, which brings
with it a modest cash value award. The awards will be announced
during the reception, at 3 p.m.
“The exhibit is mainly a time to show and celebrate the
fine works done in our art classes,” said Professor of Art
John Blosser. “The jurying is intended to ensure a higher
level of quality to the show.”
The Hershberger Art Gallery, located in the Music Center, is
open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4
p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The building is
accessible to people using wheelchairs and others with physical
limitations.
