Goshen College Orchestra to perform April 12 spring concert

Cost: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door. GC students free with ID.

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Goshen College Orchestra, directed by Brian Mast, will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.

The program will feature “Romeo & Juliet Overture-Fantasy” by Piotr Ilyich Tchiakovsky, “Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber and Symphony No. 1, Op. 38 “Spring” by Robert Schumann.

Mast is director of the Goshen College Orchestra for 2007-2008. He has also served as musical director of the Maple City Chamber Orchestra since 2002. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bethel College in North Newton, Kan., and has studied conducting with Dr. Michael Esselstrom at Indiana University South Bend. Recently Mast has collaborated with the Elkhart Civic Theatre in their productions of “Annie” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Previously, he served as the director of instrumental music at Bethany Christian Schools for seven years, where he conducted the high school and middle school orchestras, created and led the Bruin Jazz and the String Chamber Ensemble, along with various other duties. In addition to his conducting responsibilities, Mast is the Goshen College performance venue production manager for Sauder Concert Hall, Rieth Recital Hall and the Umble Center, and the technical director for the Goshen College Music Center.

 

Tickets are available at the door and cost $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Goshen College students are admitted free of charge with their student IDs. For more information, call the Music Center office at (574) 535-7361.
