Concert: Fort Wayne Philharmonic, with Goshen College and Goshen High School choirs

Fort Wayne Philharmonic to join local college and high school choirs in April 15 concert

 

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by the combined Goshen College Choirs and Goshen High School Advanced Crimson Chorale in a special concert on Sunday, April 15 at 4 p.m. in Sauder Concert Hall, Goshen College Music Center.

The concert program includes the U.S. premiere of John Estacio’s “Light Eternal,” Joseph Schwantner’s “New Morning for the World: Daybreak of Freedom,” Morton Lauridson’s “O Magnum Mysterium” and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 in D Major, Op. 107 “Reformation.” Bradley Thachuk will be the conductor and Walter Wyatt will be the narrator.

Now performing its 61st season, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra has been part of the city's musical heritage continuously since its debut in October 1944. Over the years, the Philharmonic has performed with many renowned pop artists, including Benny Goodman, Skitch Henderson, Burt Bacharach, Aretha Franklin, Doc Severinsen, The Smothers Brothers and Air Supply.

Today, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic carries on its musical tradition under the direction of Edvard Tchivzhel. Since 1980 the orchestra has won five awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). In addition, its education programs are created to inspire the love of classical music in people of all ages.
