GOSHEN, Ind. – Christine Thögersen, associate professor of music at Goshen College, will present an organ recital on Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Rieth Recital Hall, located in Goshen College’s Music Center.

In the recital, Thögersen will perform “Prelude in C Major” by Georg Böhm, “Ciacona in F minor” by Johann Pachelbel, “Psalm 116” by Adriaan Schuurman, “Prelude and Fugue in C Major” by J.S. Bach, four chorale preludes and “Sonata IV in Bb Major, Op. 65” by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

Thögersen earned her undergraduate degree in music at Goshen College, and went on to receive a master of arts in music education from Illinois State University; she completed a B-Exam in Kirchenmusik from the Berliner Kirchen Musikschule in Berlin, Germany. Her teaching at Goshen College includes keyboard theory, fine arts for children, foundations of music theory and applied piano and organ.

Thögersen was involved in planning the inaugural of the new “Opus 41” organ at Goshen College, built in in Rieth Recital Hall by Taylor & Boody Organbuilders, Staunton, Va., and dedicated in May 2005. She serves as organist at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen and in 2003 began teaching general music half-time at Benton Elementary School in Goshen.

Tickets for the recital are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors/students. They are available at the door or at the Goshen College Welcome Center by calling (574) 535-7566.
