Sales begin March 14 for 2007-08 season tickets to Goshen College’s Performing Arts Series; 10th anniversary of series features audience’s top picks
GOSHEN, Ind. – In preparation for the 2007-08 season – the 10th anniversary of the series – a survey was taken of the Goshen College Performing Arts Series audience of their favorite performers from the past 10 years. Several of the top picks – Canadian Brass, Sweet Honey in the Rock and Chanticleer – as well as others from the list, will return to the college’s Music Center and Sauder Concert Hall in 2007-08.
The line-up was publicly announced March 13, at the final concert of the 2006-07 season, the Soweto Gospel Choir. Initial reservations were available immediately following the concert, and season tickets formally went on sale March 14, at the college’s Welcome Center.

Chanticleer
Known around the globe as the premier men’s a cappella ensemble, Chanticleer is described as “breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation, purity of blend, variety of color and swagger of style” by the Boston Globe. Grammy award-winning Chanticleer recordings have garnered critical acclaim and reflect the group’s broad versatility in choral music, from Renaissance to jazz and more. ($35A, $30B, $15C)

Brubeck Brothers with Taylor Eigsti
The Brubeck Brothers and pianist Taylor Eigsti enjoy a collaborative style described as “…jazz in its finest form: exciting, expertly played, full of life, supremely musical and energetic” by Audiophile. Dan and Chris Brubeck continue their father Dave Brubeck’s legacy in the jazz world, and along with the young rising star Eigsti, promise a dazzling and invigorating performance. ($25A, $20B, $10C)

Sweet Honey in the Rock
The Grammy award-winning ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock performs their unique a cappella blend of gospel, blues and jazz rooted in the African-American tradition, their trademark sound for more than three decades. As both artists and cultural activists, Sweet Honey’s songs are commentaries on pertinent issues of the day, never failing to inspire their audiences. This will be their third visit to Goshen College as part of this series. ($40A, $35B, $20C)

10th Anniversary Gala (Add-on): Smothers Brothers
Described as American icons, the Smothers Brothers have been in show business over 49 years, and with a unique blend of comedic and musical talents, these irrepressible brothers have made a sweeping impact on diverse generations of fans. YoYo Man (Tom) and the Voice of Yo (Dick) travel and appear with the Smothers Brothers in concert, adding to the pure unadulterated joy they bring to audiences of all ages. John McCutcheon and Carrie Newcomer, both hailed as singer-songwriters and storytellers for our time, are rooted in the folk tradition and masters of their craft. Performing individually and also collaborating for this concert, the audience is sure to be captivated by the variety and unique talents of each, and will take melodies and thoughts with them that linger long after the performance. Swingle Singers
With five Grammys to their credit, the Swingle Singers continue a 45-year tradition of delighting audiences with their innovative style of vocal performance. Typical of the group’s enthusiastic reviews is the Los Angeles Times’ “Everything about the Swingle Singers is flawless,” which recognizes the impeccable musicianship and elegant delivery by the current ensemble of eight talented young singers. ($35A, $30B, $15C)
Performing Arts Series season tickets cost $195 for A section seats (main floor, front sides, front of balcony), $165 for B section seats (main floor back, back sides, raised back and back of balcony) and $90 for seats in the C section (upper side balconies). Season ticket holders are guaranteed the same seat for every performance in Sauder Hall.
A series package includes the base of six shows and a special rate for the 10th Anniversary Gala add-on featuring the Smothers Brothers. Seats will be assigned according to date received. Individual tickets, if available, go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Welcome Center. All tickets will be mailed.

The Goshen College Performing Arts Series debuted on Sept. 21, 1997, and featured the Fort Wayne Chamber Orchestra. Since then, the college has hosted 73 concerts by some of the world’s greatest performers as part of the program.
