GOSHEN, Ind. – Faculty in the Goshen College Music Department will be joined by their music students to present a Faculty Recital Series concert of chamber music by 18th century composer Felix Mendelssohn in the Music Center's Rieth Recital Hall on Tuesday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The program will feature two Mendelssohn pieces. Professor of Music Matthew Hill, a pianist, will join Solomia Soroka, professor of music and violinist, and Dato Machavariani, cellist, to perform the "Piano Trio No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66." Hill, Soroka and Machavariana will then join violist Rosalyn Troiano, the Community School of the Arts Suzuki String Director, along with first-year student Chelsea Wimmer (Telford, Pa.), sophomore Elspeth Stalter (Iowa City, Iowa), first-year Justin Yoder (Perkasie, Pa.) and junior Greta Breckbill (Stoughton, Wis.) for a performance of Mendelssohn's "Octet in E-flat Major for Strings, Op. 20."

The year 2009 was a "Mendelssohn Year," celebrating the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth. This recital is given in commemoration of that event.
