Goshen College seniors showcase artistic endeavors in capstone events, March 8-April 26

ABOVE: Announcements designed by the Goshen College senior art majors whose work will be on display at the Hershberger Art Gallery at the Goshen College Music Center from March 8 to April 15.
Dates: Exhibit One: March 8-18 with March 8 reception. Exhibit Two: March 22-April 2 with March 22 reception. Exhibit Three: April 5-15 with April 5 reception. Commencement Exhibit: April 19-26 with April 25 reception.

GOSHEN, Ind. – Fifteen Goshen College senior art majors will display the culmination of their studies and work in three annual senior art exhibitions in the Hershberger Art Gallery at the Goshen College Music Center from March 8 to April 15. Pieces from all exhibits will be included in a Senior Commencement Exhibit from April 19 to 26, with a reception on Saturday, April 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Goshen College Art Department requires all graduating art majors to participate in a senior exhibition. Students choose a medium with which they are familiar and then generate a body of work within that chosen medium. This show represents the culmination of four years of focused development of artistic skills and thought.
The Senior Art Exhibit I, exhibited March 8 to 18, will have an opening reception on Sunday, March 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. The following students will display their art in the exhibit:
Simon Birky-Hartmann (France) will display his work in
digital design. He is the son of Marie Vonau Hartmann and Paul
Hartmann.
Lauren Eldredge (Abington, Pa.) will display her work in encaustic painting. She is the daughter of Scott and Alice Eldridge, a graduate of Abington Senior High School and attends Ambler Mennonite Church.
Chet Franklin (Antwerp, Ohio) will display his work in painting and ink washes. He is the son of Alan and Pamela Franklin, and attends Community Christian Center.
Abigail Groff (Kinzers, Pa.) will display her work in mixed media. She is the daughter of Marlin and Sue Groff, a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School and attends East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church.
Brooke Hutchison (Bloomington, Ill.) will display her work in sculpture. She is the daughter of Brad and Renee Hutchison, a graduate of Pekin Community High School and attends Mennonite Church of Dillon.
The Senior Art Exhibit II, exhibited March 22 to April 2, will have
an opening reception on Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. The
following students will display their art in the exhibit:
Carmen Myers (Syracuse, Ind.) will display her paintings. She is the daughter of Mark Myers and Cindy Tesser and a graduate of Fairfield Junior-Senior High School.
Janell Koch-Cripe (Goshen) will display her paintings. She is the daughter of Kevin and Jeannie Koch, a graduate of Northridge High School and attends Jefferson Brethren Church.
Daniel Merkt Blatz (San Antonio, Texas) will display his work in ceramics. He is the son of John Blatz and Stacey Merkt, a graduate of International School of the Americas and attends San Antonio Mennonite Church.
Alex Troyer (Wooster, Ohio) will display his work in sculpture. He is the son of Jeffery and Brenda Troyer, a graduate of Central Christian High School and attends Wooster Mennonite Church.
Emily Shantz (Goshen) will display her work in drawing. She is the daughter of Steven and Kathryn Shantz, a graduate of Bethany Christian Schools and attends Assembly Mennonite Church.
The Senior Art Exhibit III, exhibited April 5 to 15, will have an opening reception on Sunday, April 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. The following students will display their art in the exhibit:
Joanna Landis (Akron, Pa.) will display her paintings. She is the daughter of Carl and Deb Laws-Landis, a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School and attends Pilgrims Mennonite Church.
Laura Harnish (Flanagan, Ill.) will display her paintings. She is the daughter of Rick and Annette Harnish, a graduate of Flanagan High School and attends Prairieview Mennonite Church.
Britta Albrecht (Goshen) will display her work in pen and watercolor. She is the daughter of Tom and Dee Albrecht, a graduate of Bethany Christian Schools and attends Berkey Avenue Mennonite Church.
Whitney Philipps (Clinton, Ill.) will display her paintings. She is the daughter of Rodney and Pamela Philipps and a graduate of University High School.
Dirk Leichty (Albany, Ore.) will display his work in mixed media sculpture. He is the son of Mark Leichty and Ann Detweiler, a graduate of West Albany High School and attends Albany Mennonite Church.
The Hershberger Art Gallery, located in the Music Center, is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The building is accessible to people using wheelchairs and others with physical limitations.
