College faculty recital features piano duo, March 17

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College Associate Professor of Music Beverly Lapp and Assistant Professor of Music Christine Larson Seitz will perform a piano duo as part of the college’s Faculty Showcase Recital on Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.

 

The program will include “Scaramouche” by Darius Milhaud, “Sonata in Bb major” by Mozart, “L’Isle joyeuse” by Debussy, “American Dance Suite” by Julia Smith, Beethoven’s “Variations on a Theme” by Saint-Saens.

 

Lapp is in her 12th year on the Goshen College music faculty where she has had diverse experiences in teaching and administration. In addition to teaching piano, piano pedagogy and humanities, she has previously served as interim chair of the music department, director of the piano preparatory program and a leader of international study terms in Peru and the Dominican Republic. She is co-coordinator of the Piano Workshop and Academy, a four-day summer event for piano teachers and high school students. Lapp’s undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Goshen College and Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

 

Larson Seitz has served as assistant professor of music at Goshen College since 1999, where she teaches music technology and music theory courses and serves as staff accompanist. Having previously taught at Indiana University South Bend and Bethel College in Mishawaka, she has been a sought-after recital accompanist in Michiana for 35 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and a master’s degree from Indiana University South Bend, studying under Robert Hamilton and John Owings. Since 1978, she has been the accompanist and assistant director for the St. Joseph Valley Camerata, and has been the organist at First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka since 1987.

 

Tickets for the recital are $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and students. GC students receive free admission with ID. Tickets are available for purchase at the door.
