GOSHEN, Ind. – Playing the piano is a family affair for The 5 Browns, a touring piano group known best for their joyous live performances, consisting of five siblings—Desirae, Deondra, Gregory, Melody and Ryan Brown. They will be performing as part of the Goshen College Performing Arts Series on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall.

Tickets are still available for the concert for $40, $35, $20 (regular seating). For more information, contact the Goshen College Welcome Center by calling (574) 535-7566 or e-mailing welcomecenter@goshen.edu.

Whether they're playing individually, in duos or in complex five-piano arrangements, The 5 Browns are exposing classical music to new audiences as they perform works by Dvorak, Gershwin, Liszt, Rimsky-Korsakov and Stravinsky, among many others.

The Brown siblings were born in Houston, Texas, where they each began studying piano at age 3 with Yelena Kurinets. In 1991, the Mormon family moved to Utah, where the children continued private piano lessons with Irene Peery-Fox. The Brown children were homeschooled until they all attended The Julliard School, a renowned musical conservatory, for five years. They were the first group of five siblings ever to simultaneously attend Julliard. While attending the conservatory, the Browns studied with Yoheved Kaplinksy.

Like Sergei Rachmaninoff, Lang Lang and Duke Ellington, The 5 Browns are Steinway artists, meaning they choose to perform exclusively on Steinways, and they each own a Steinway. They are signed with the RCA Red Seal label and have four albums of their work released (their latest 2010 release is titled "The 5 Browns in Hollywood").

Of The 5 Browns, the New York Post said, "One family, five pianos and 50 fingers add up to the biggest classical music sensation in years."
