Goshen College Chamber Choir to perform concerts of sacred and secular music on five-state spring break tour

GOSHEN, Ind. – The 24-voice Goshen College Chamber Choir will be performing at Mennonite churches and schools in five states during its 2006 spring break tour.

Led by Professor of Music Debra Brubaker, the Chamber Choir will present a worship experience in song, featuring choral repertoire from many time periods and geographical locations. Standard choral literature will be interspersed with hymn arrangements and international songs, including an Irish piece and a spiritual by African-American composer Moses Hogan. Students will direct two of the pieces. And an extended work by Mozart will celebrate the composer’s 250th birth anniversary.

“It is always a thrill to take a group of singers on tour and watch the musical development that occurs in one short week,” said Brubaker. “An extra thrill is to see the interactions that take place between the students and our audiences, and to know that connections between current, past and future Goshen College students continue to be strengthened.”

The Chamber Choir will travel through Indiana into North Carolina, Georgia and Florida, returning through Ohio for performances during its Feb. 25 to March 5 Spring Break tour.
