Women’s basketball game on Feb. 20 to be broadcast live on the Web
GOSHEN, Ind. – The Goshen College Athletic Department, along with the Communication and Information Technology Services-Media Departments and WGCS-91.1 FM The Globe, has announced that the women’s basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. will be available live in real video via a free Internet Web cast. The women’s broadcast follows a successful showing of the men’s basketball team’s 79-71 win over Taylor University Saturday afternoon.
The contest against Huntington University will feature multiple angles from a total of four cameras. The Web cast will be available via a link from www.GoLeafs.net, the official Web site of Goshen College Athletics.
The multi-camera sports Web casts are designed as a learning experience for students in broadcast media classes taught by Associate Professor of Communication Ron Johnson. The broadcasts give students a real-time experience in a multi-camera, live television production environment. The video will be synced with the radio broadcast presented by 91.1FM The Globe.
Fans, media, parents and friends who cannot attend the game in person can benefit from the class project by logging on and watching the Maple Leafs from the comfort of their homes.
“We are excited about being able to offer this opportunity to our fans and families who are out of the area as well as the learning experience for our current students,” said Sports Information Director Josh Gleason. “We hope to continue to offer ways for our student to learn, while also offering increased opportunities for our fan base to expand and become actively involved the development of our student-athletes.”
Also special for Wednesday night’s game is an appearance by Lavender Jazz, the Goshen College Big Band Jazz Group directed by Sonny Carreño.
