Results announced for Goshen's Regional Tournament of the Indiana Science Olympiad

GOSHEN, Ind. – During the Feb. 13 Goshen College Regional Tournament of the Indiana Science Olympiad, 10 regional middle school teams (Division B) and eight high school teams (Division C) competed in 23 events each for individual medals and team trophies. Individual events were coordinated and judged by about 100 volunteers representing faculty and students of Goshen College plus scientists and experts from the community.

The overall results for the high school division were: first place, Northridge High School; second place, LaLumiere School; third place, Mishawaka High School; fourth place, Bethany Christian High School.

The overall results for the middle school division were: first place, Stanley Clark Middle School; second place, Manchester Junior High; third place, Northridge Middle School; fourth place, LaSalle Academy.

Three middle school teams and two high school teams will advance to the state tournament at Indiana University's Bloomington campus on March 20. One more team in each division will be invited to a wildcard tournament on March 6 at Ivy Tech in Lafayette with another chance to qualify for the state tournament.

Sarah Toews of Northridge High School is the winner of a $1,000 scholarship to Goshen College as the high school senior with the highest number of medal points at the regional competition.
