GOSHEN, Ind. – The Goshen College Honors Wind Symphony will present a concert of classic wind band literature at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 in Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
The program will feature Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite,” Vincent Persichetti’s “Divertimento for Band, Op. 42” and William Schuman’s “George Washington Bridge – An Impression for Band.” Chernetsky’s “March of the Guards-Mortarmen,” a piece given to Associate Professor of Music John Graulty, the ensemble’s director, by the director of the Red Army Band in Moscow, will also be featured.
This special ensemble is in its second season on the Goshen College campus and is comprised of Goshen College players and auditioned pre-college players from area high schools. This year, five area high schools are represented in the ensemble, with some players traveling as far as one hour to participate.
Tickets are available at the door and cost $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. Goshen College students are admitted free of charge with their student IDs. For more information, please contact the Music Center office at (574) 535-7361.
