GOSHEN, Ind. – Les
and Gwen Gustafson-Zook, a Goshen-based husband and wife folk music
duo, will present a family-friendly concert in Goshen College Music
Center’s Sauder Concert Hall at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan.
20.
Les Gustafson-Zook is the 2001 International Autoharp Champion and a true virtuoso on the instrument. He is joined on many occasions by his wife, Gwen, to perform for coffeehouses, festivals, churches and concerts. Gwen plays guitar and sings both lead and harmony to help form an entertaining and energetic folk duo. They emphasize family entertainment, with a combination of stories and songs to keep all ages entertained.
Their music reflects values gained in years of work with the Mennonite Central Committee in locations including Atlanta, Denver, Portland and Jamaica, doing relief and service work with the Mennonite Church. Gwen is a licensed Mennonite pastor and is currently teaching at Bethany Christian Middle School in Goshen.
Besides performing music, Gwen and Les make up an effective worship/resource team, lead singing and speak for church retreats, conferences and camps. Combining music, storytelling and multigenerational group experiences, Gwen and Les have been highly valued resource people for church groups.
Les and Gwen will be joined by their daughter, Sadie, a fiddler and vocalist and by bassist and Goshen musician Kent Dutchersmith.
The concert is sponsored by the Goshen College Community School of the Arts. General admission tickets are available at the door and cost $3 for adults and $1 for all children 12 and under.
