Internationally recognized as one of the most versatile artists in the field of music, Schickele has composed more than 100 classical works for symphony orchestra, choral groups, chamber ensemble, voice, film and television. In addition to composing, Schickele is acknowledged as one of the greatest satirists of the 20th century in his role as the humorous and now classical P.D.Q. Bach.

A familiar piece Schickele arranged was one of the musical segments for the Disney animated feature film, Fantasia 2000.
