June 15-21, 2014
For music students entering grades 9 through graduating high school seniors
The Goshen College Music Department is bringing back a beloved summer music camp for high school musicians this June!
Music Week, a celebrated week-long summer extravaganza for high school choral and instrumental students, will be held June 15-21, 2014 on the Goshen College campus. Artistic directors for the camp are Goshen College assistant professor of music Dr. Christopher Fashun and associate professor of music Dr. Scott Hochstetler.
Come spend a week on the Goshen College campus making music with other high school age musicians who love music as much as you do! All instruments and voice parts are welcome. If you are a choral or instrumental student entering grades 9-12, this is your opportunity to learn from the talented Goshen College music department faculty, perform in a state-of-the-art facility, and experience college life. During this week-long summer music extravaganza, we will help you develop your musical knowledge and polish your performance skills during individual and joint rehearsals. Plus, you will have the opportunity to choose from global music electives in Brazilian drumming, Brazilian dance, and world music singing. There will also be plenty of time for you to relax and hang out with your new friends during evening recreational activities, and an afternoon trip to the Warren Dunes. The week will conclude with a final public concert in Sauder Concert Hall on Friday evening.
The 2014 Music Week will coincide with the Elkhart Jazz Festival’s “Camp Hoagy” for high school jazz musicians. Music Week and Camp Hoagy will share facilities, bringing together more than 100 high school musicians for a week of great music and interaction.
