K-12 School Programs

Environmental Education for School Age Students

Note - Fall program scheduling opens April 1st.  There have been some changes in the fee structure for Fall programs.  Please see Fee Structure for details.

A central element of Merry Lea's mission is "Providing environmental education for people of all ages."

Use the links from this page to explore Merry Lea programs that are designed for school aged children (kindergarten through high school).  Also available here are many resources for teachers including information on graduate classes and our Mobile Environmental Laboratory.

If you have any questions about our programs or you are interested in getting more details.  Please feel free to contact us.  Look for the "Contact Information" link on the left.

"You might be thinking, if you’re an educator, where can I take my students to get outdoors, learn science experientially, and fulfill the Indiana Department of Education's science standards. Merry Lea's education team is constantly striving to create a quality experience for any participant, student or teacher that visits any potion of the 1150-acre classroom; the first grader studying farming prior to electricity at the farmstead, the fourth grader actualizing the glacial program, and the tenth grader philosophizing the reasons for wetlands.

I hope you can bring your students or yourself to Merry Lea to experience, to share, to be provoked, and to become a steward of this beautiful earth."
          -------Paul Steury, K-12 Education Coordinator

Merry Lea's education team is determined to:
--Facilitate experiences in the outdoor world, which inspire exploration, foster a sense of wonder, and share joy,
--Share information about ecosystems and natural processes of northeastern Indiana,
--Provoke interest in life-long investigation, and
--Encourage stewardship, a sense of place, and hope.
