Sustainable Design: Rieth Village

Wastewater Treatment   |  Potable Water   |   Non-Potable Water

Non-Potable Water

Rainwater is collected from the all the roofs at Reith Village.  This water will be collected in a cistern for use at the facility.  The metal, standing seam roofing material allows for easy collection of rain water.
Water is piped to the cistern. The cistern will be filled with water from the roofs of the buildings. Water will be pumped from the cistern to flush all the toilets in the buildings, as well as for doing laundry.
Water from the roofs will be piped into a cleansing biotope where the water will be filtered by soil, gravel and plastic mesh before it enters the cistern
A 500 gallon underground cistern will collect rainwater.  This water will be pumped back to the buildings for use in flushing toilets and for laundry.
