Volunteer Pages

Each year we host around 7000 students from area schools who come to Merry Lea on field trips to explore our wetlands, forests, meadows and other areas.  We rely on volunteers to help with the teaching for these programs.  We have established curricula that include many fun hands-on activities for the students so the programs are fun to teach and easy to learn.  Most of our volunteers help one to two mornings a week although the amount of time you would like to help is completely up to you.

Volunteers also help behind the scenes helping with a wide variety of work projects, helping with research, managing our gardens, and much more.

Volunteer for Sugarbush 2012
Help teach students about the craft of making Maple Syrup at the Yoder Sugarbush in Huntertown.  You can teach students how to tap trees, use a two person saw, boil down the sap and much more.  This program also requires a lot of non-teaching volunteers.  We are splitting wood each Saturday from now until tapping day. Sap collecting help is also needed in the afternoons during the sugaring season. Download the forms to sign up to volunteer or contact Carol Good-Elliot at carolge@goshen.edu for more information.

Volunteer Training Day for Sugarbush 2012 is Februaru 13 from 9:00am - 1:00pm at the Yoder Farm.
