Eco-Career Day – Tentative Schedule*


Friday, April 22nd 2005

10:00 Welcome and Introduction

10:10 – Concurrent Sessions 1 – Professional Presentations

            A- Examine Displays in Barn and talk to presenters
            B- Aquatic Biology
            C- Being a Conservation Officer

10:30 – Concurrent Sessions 2 – Field Biologist
           A- Bird Banding
                   - Watch as trained bird banders remove birds from nets, gather data on    the age and health of the bird and place the bands. Participate in bird release.
           B- Salamander Hunt
                   - Take a hike with a wildlife biologist who studies salamanders. Learn how this research is conducted and visit temporary ponds to search for these wonderful, elusive creatures.
           C- Water Testing
                   - Don a pair of waders and help to perform water quality tests with the help of professional water quality monitors.

11:30 – Concurrent Sessions 3 – Professional Presentations
           A- Examine Displays in Barn and talk to presenters
           B- Wildlife Biology
           C- “Green” Architect – Designing Sustainable Buildings

11:50-12:05 - Demonstrations and Examine Displays

12:05-12:40 - Lunch

12:40-1:20 - Guided Hikes (Environmental Education) – Take a hike with a
nature hike with a professional naturalist and learn about the
field of environmental education.

1:20 – Load Buses and Depart
