Shari Miller Wagner

 

Shari Miller Wagner, born in 1958 in Goshen, Indiana, has lived in numerous locations around the world, which have all effected her outlook on life as well as her poetry. Though born in Goshen, Wagner spent most of her childhood in the small town of Markle, Indiana. Wagner's family also spent several years in Somalia and Kenya while her father was employed by Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions. 

Wagner herself spent several years doing service for the Mennonite church in Louisiana, as well as Haiti and Honduras. After graduating from Goshen College, she received her MFA in Creative Writing from Indiana University. She has taught writing in universities, elementary schools, and even in nursing homes. 

Wagner has a husband, Chuck, and two daughters. She is currently the editor of Menno Expressions, a publication put out by First Mennonite Church of Indianapolis . Wagner has published one book of poems entitled Evening Chore, which came out 2005. Her poetry has been in many journals, including the Indiana Review, Midland Review, and the Mennonite Weekly Review. Wagner has also received several awards from the Indiana Arts Review and the Arts Council of Indianapolis.
