Computers

    Library Lab
    A 23-station lab is located on the first floor near the reference room. When a class is not scheduled for the lab, these computers are available for students.
     
    Quick Search Computer
    A computer located to the right of the circulation desk is always logged into the library's catalog.
     
    Library Search Computers
    Seven computers are available for searching the library catalog, electronic databases, and the Web, or for sending e-mail. Word-processing software is not available on these computers. Four of these computers are in the bay to the left of the circulation desk, two are in the reference room, and one is located on a table to the right of the circulation desk. Community members who are not current students, faculty or staff of Goshen College may be logged onto these computers under the conditions listed in the Community Use of Library PCs (word doc).
     
    Office XP Computers
    The library has eight computers with Office XP software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access). Five of these computers are in the computer bay on the first floor, two are in the reference room, and one is across from the librarians' offices at the south end of the library lobby.
     
    Lab-configured Computers
    The library also has eight computers configured with the same software as computers in the Schertz or library labs. These computers are located on the second and third floors of the library in the stack area and in the curriculum library on the lower level. These computers may be used by GC students, faculty and staff only.
     
    MAC Computer
    The library has one MAC computer located in the computer bay area to the left of the circulation desk.
     
    Network Ports
    The library has eight network ports for personal laptop computers that have network cards. These ports are in the reference room and in the stacks areas of the second and third floors. Network cards may be purchased from the Goshen College book store.
     
    Wireless Laptop Computer
    The library has one wireless laptop computer available for use in the library. Ask at the circulation desk. Also read the policies concerning this computer.
     
    Scanners
    The library has two scanners available with one being a Kurzweil scanner for anyone needing visual assistance. It enlarges text and/or reads the text aloud.

Copiers

    Photocopiers
    Two photocopiers are located on the main floor of the library in the online catalog area. Charge for copies is 10 cents per page. Photocopy prices are set by the college print shop and apply campus-wide. Two sizes of paper are available: regular (8-1/2" x 11") and legal size (8-1/2" x 14"). These copiers can accommodate enlarged or reduced copies as well as two-sided copying and transparencies.
     
    Reader/Printer
    It is possible to get paper copies of microform pages. A self-service machine is available on third floor south with the periodical back issues. Charge is 10 cents per page.

Group Study Room

    Room 011 in the library basement is available for group study. The room may be reserved in advanced through the library office manager (x7430) but reservation is not required. A key to the room is available at the circulation desk and may be obtained with a GC campus ID.

Quiet Area

    The 2nd floor north stack area has been designated a quiet area for studying.
