There are a number of citation styles or formats. Which style you use depends upon your subject discipline. If you are uncertain about which style to use, ask your professor.

Below are some commonly used citation style guides:

	The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th ed. (2010) The APA style is used by students in the social and behavioral sciences.
	MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th ed. (2009) The MLA (Modern Language Association) style is used by students in languages and literature.
	A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 7th ed., (2007). This commonly-used style by Kate Turabian is a student version of a longer guide, The Chicago Manual of Style
