Equipment Checkout

ITSMedia has various equipment available for use by faculty, staff and/or students at Goshen College.  Equipment can be checked out by visiting our offices in the South end of the Union building during ITSM office hours; or one can reserve items by calling ITSM staff at 7727 or by emailing mediagoshen.edu.  Equipment is due by 10 AM on the due date unless otherwise specified.  See also ITSMedia Equipment Checkout Policy
Digital Still Camera (Nikon P5000)
ITSM has 6 Nikon coolpix P5000 Digital cameras available for use by faculty, staff, and students at GC. This item is a one day checkout only.

How to use the Nikon Digital Camera
Digital Video Camera
At this time ITSMedia has three Canon ZR500 Handicams and one Sony Hi-8 camcorder for use by the GC community.  Standard checkout includes a tripod.
Panasonic DVX-100B
(for GCJournal and EMP students only)
The Panasonic DVX-100B is a digital video camcorder and uses the standard MiniDV cassette producing the highest quality video possible from non-broadcast equipment. On top of that, because it records both video and audio as digital data, this information can be transferred - without any loss of picture or audio quality - to computer for editing, then transferred back to DV tape, without a reduction in either picture or audio quality through the use of a FireWire cable.

JVC GY-HD250 Camcorders
(for Comm 212/312 students only)
The JVC GY-HD250 is a high definition digital video camcorder that can record in HDV format or DV format using the standard MiniDV cassette. Information recorded on the HD250 can be transferred to computer for editing through the use of a FireWire cable.

Cassette and CD/Cassette Players
ITSMedia currently has nine cassette tape recorders and two CD/cassette players (boombox style) for general checkout.  Standard checkout length for the cassette recorders is one week and for the CD/cassette players is one day.
Minidisc Player/Recorder (Sony MZR-55)
The Sony minidisc recorder enables you to play/record on a minidisc.
Edirol Digital Audio Recorder
The Edirol R-09 can be used for recording live sound in a digital format which can later be transfered to a computer and to CDs.  Standard checkout includes a USB cable. This item is not for regular checkout.
Digital Voice Recorder
ITSM currently has two Sony ICD-P210 Digital Voice Recorders for recording audio.  Each recorder comes with a USB cable which can easily be connected to a computer in order to download the audio files. The recorders are available for general checkout by GC staff, faculty, and students.
Laptop Computers
We have 8 Toshiba laptops that are available for checkout for the purpose of creating and displaying multimedia presentations. Because of the specialized purpose of these machines and the growing demand on campus for portable computing we have developed the following circulation policy regarding these machines. Laptops should be reserved by calling 7727 or mailing . Laptop reservations are subject to approval by ITSMedia staff.
Priorities of use:
  • On campus Presentations by GC faculty, Administrators and visiting instructors.
  • Special Events - conferences, lectures, etc.
  • Travel needs of Faculty PRESENTING at a conference
  • General travel and ITS systems support needs of ITS staff
  • General travel needs of Faculty/staff (no longer than two weeks at a time)
Projector
There are two projectors at ITSMedia which are available for checkout by GC faculty and staff for GC-related activities such as off-campus presentaions or recruiting trips.  Our current checkout model is the Panasonic PTL-711U (1400 lumens).

Projectors may be rented for non-GC related activities or by off campus entities; the cost is $80 per day or weekend.
AlphaSmart 3000
The AlphaSmart 3000 is a portable note-taking computing system.  It enables users to type and edit text which can later  be transfered to a computer using the included USB cable.  This it not a standard checkout item.
Portable PA System
ITSMedia has three Portable PA systems available for checkout by faculty and staff for campus-related events.  Standard checkout may include one anchor (speaker), one microphone, one mic stand, and cables to connect an iPod or CD player.  Checkout length is one day.
