Sometimes your best work is invisible.  For the past year, ITS and administrative departments have been working to migrate GC's administrative databases from Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server.  Over mid-term break, ITS staff made the switch and the college's 20+ year use of Oracle came to an end.  The change affects every web application and database driven service on campus, including ID cards, chapel/convo attendance, meal plan management, timecard services and more. According to database administrator Gordon Bontrager, the campus may experience minor inconveniences from this upgrade through at least next fall, though ITS and departmental staff are working hard to fix issues before they affect students and faculty.
